东林道风

 

 

 

    这是一个信众趋归精进念佛的清净道场。东林祖庭以持戒念佛为家风,以弘扬净宗文化为使命,以培养僧伽为要务,以引导四众弟子如法修行净业为职守。净土一法是注重实修实证的法门,行人唯有身体力行地去实践佛陀的教诲,才能获得真实受用。

    这里二时殿堂,朔望诵戒,结夏安居,每日四支香(六小时)进堂念佛。每年农历四月初八和九月十九,两次传授在家菩萨戒。许多虔诚的信众从四面八方纷至沓来,在这里清净修行,精勤持念。近几年,东林常住还大力开展各种念佛修行活动,如精进佛七、闭关念佛、一昼夜精进念佛、彼岸行夏令营、莲宗学修培训班、净土文化体验班等,惠予众生真实之利。

    今日,东林寺僧众秉承祖师遗志,发扬大乘佛教菩萨道精神,弘传净宗圣言量与中国净宗祖师思想,引导四众弟子专修念佛法门,培养净宗弘法人才,帮助弱势苦难群体,构建面向世界的多元文化交流平台。开慈心济世之德业,畅诸佛度生之本怀,普令一切众生回归阿弥陀佛极乐乡邦!


The Ways of Donglin Practice

   Donglin monastery is a place specifically built for Buddhist devotees to practice the Buddha’s Name Chanting method. The monastery firmly holds to “observing the precepts and practicing the Buddha’s Name Chanting method” as its style. Today, its mission is to spread Pure Land culture, to cultivate young monks, and to guide the devotees in staying on the Path. The Pure Land path is the method of real practice. Followers who personally observe the Buddha’s teaching can achieve the true result.   

   The monastery practice includes a Morning and Evening Ceremony, reading Bhikkhu Precepts together twice a month, doing a Summer Retreat for three months, and holding daily Buddha’s name chanting for six hours. It also holds a Bodhisattva Precepts Ordination Ceremony for Lay Buddhists twice a year. In recent years, the monastery developed various new means of practice, such as a Seven- day Retreat, a Self-isolation Retreat, a 24-Hour Walking Retreat, a Pure Land Cultural Summer Camp, a Buddhist Lecturers Training Class, and an Entrepreneurs Chanting Meditation Class.

   Nowadays, to guide practitioners on the Right Path, to cultivate Pure Land preaching talents, to help disadvantage groups in society, and to build a multicultural communication platform, the Dongling Sangha faithfully carries forward their patriarch’s will by practicing his teachings and implementing the Bodhisattva’s spirit in their daily life. They are trying hard to build a Pure Land in our Saha world.

剃度
    性觉灵明,寂照真常,昔迷今悟露堂堂,三宝是慈航,一瓣心香,皈礼法中王。(绿色部分未翻译,东林师兄注)佛言:“若人以四事供养四天下满中罗汉,尽于百年,不如有人一日一夜发心出家功德。”善男子善女人剃除须发,出家入道,行六波罗蜜,学无量法门,度一切人,续佛慧命,令三宝不断,其功德殊胜难量!

Head Shaving Ceremony
   The Buddha said, “If one offers clothes, food, bedding, and medicine to tens of thousands of Arhats for one hundred years, still, one’s merits are no bigger than if you become a monk for a day and a night.” For men and women who devote their life to renouncing their family and entering the Path, who practice the Six Paramitas and learn various methods, who help others to be awakened and carry forward the Buddhist lineage, their merits are unimaginably huge.

传授在家菩萨戒
    菩萨戒,是发大乘心的菩萨所受持的戒律。《受菩萨戒仪》云:“三皈五戒得人身,十善八斋生天报,持十戒、具足戒,出烦恼之爱河,得罗汉之圣果。受菩萨戒者,得于佛果。”《梵网经》记载,菩萨戒“是诸佛之本源,菩萨之根本”。东林寺在每年农历四月和九月各举办一次在家菩萨戒传授法会,受戒戒子如法纳受在家诸戒法,功德殊胜难量。(咨询:0792-8900217)
 

Bodhisattva Precepts Ordination Ceremony for Lay Buddhists

   Bodhisattva precepts are the disciplines for those who vow to become Bodhisattvas. According to Ritual for Bodhisattva Precepts Ordination: “To stay in the human realm, one needs to observe Three Refugees and Five Precepts; to transcend to the heavenly realm, one needs to observe Ten Precepts and Eight Vegetarian Days; to become an Arhat, one needs to observe the Ten Precepts and Full Ordination; and to become a Buddha, one needs to observe Bodhisattva Precepts.” According to the Brahmajala Sutra, Bodhisattva precepts are “the source of Buddhas, the root of Bodhisattvas.”

精进佛七
    《佛说阿弥陀经¬》云:是人执持阿弥陀佛名号七日,一心不乱,临命终时即得往生西方极乐世界。故东林寺在每年“五一”、“十一”两个假期各打一个念佛七,冬季佛七从农历十一月初七开始连续打49天(有时打21天,根据具体情况而定),广纳佛门四众前来祖庭,为成办净业往生大事提供践履。(咨询:0792-8900217)
 

 

Seven-Day Retreat
   According to the Amitabha Sutra, if one deeply concentrates on the Buddha’s name chanting without any doubt for seven days, one will be born in the Western Pure Land. The monastery organizes two Seven-Day Retreats in May and October every year. In addition, the Winter Retreat will normally last for 49 days. 闭关念佛
    闭关念佛于隋唐时颇为盛行,利益甚深。为实施净化人心、提升道德、信愿念佛,同登极乐之宗旨,成就净业行人的法身慧命,东林祖庭在正常念佛修行的基础上,增加10天、25天、49天、100天的闭关念佛实修活动,亦有比丘三年长期闭关的独立关房。在闭关期间内,每天念佛十万声,为念佛同仁提供尅期取证的机会。(咨询:0792-8909113)
 



Self-Isolation Retreat
   Self Isolation Retreats (SIRs) started in Sui and Tang Dynasty (about 1,400 years ago). These retreats help to purify people’s hearts, to raise people’s level of morality, and to accomplish a Pure Land practitioners’ vow to transform into the Western Pure Land. Beside regular practice, Donglin monastery provides 10-day, 25-day, 49-day, 100-day, and even three- year SIRs. During the SIR, practitioners are required to chant Amitabha Buddha’s name 100,000 times daily, so practitioners can obtain a certain level of achievement in a specific time limit. 一昼夜经¬行念佛
    《佛说无量寿经¬》云:若人斋戒清净,十日十夜乃至一日一夜不间断念佛,决定得生西方极乐世界。为令广大净业行人握持往生净土之左券,东林寺常住定于每月12日组织进行一日一夜精进经行念佛共修。经行期间(24小时内)日中一食,严持八关斋戒,止语,不睡、不坐、不卧,只念“南无阿弥陀佛”,不念其他名号、经咒。(咨询:0792-8900217)
 



24-Hour Walking Retreat
   According to the Infinite Light Sutra, one can be born into the Western Pure Land by observing the Precepts and eating one meal a day for 10 days and 10 nights or even one day and one night. To benefit Pure Land practitioners, Donglin Monastery organizes a 24-Hour Walking Retreat on the 12th day of every month. During the Retreat, practitioners must practice “one-meal-a-day” and observe the Eight Precepts. Additionally, they must strictly follow the rules of “no talking, no sleeping, no sitting, and no lying down” but only walking and chanting “Namo Amitabha” for 24 hours. 生命是一个百思难解的奇迹。
投生在这个蔚蓝色的星球上,
黄昏荒野,踽踽独行。
我是谁?
生命向天空发出拷问
 
世尊出兴于世,开显宇宙人生真相,指陈人生的目的与意义,怜悯我等受六道轮回无量之苦,欲令一切众生离生死苦得涅槃乐,遂以无尽大悲宣说净宗出世大法,俾令上智下愚一切人等,信愿持名,仰赖阿弥陀佛弘愿慈力,横超三界,往生净土,速疾成佛,永脱苦轮。

几多憧憬,几许不安,
我们跨入了新纪元。
强竞争,快节奏,
道德丧失,内心徨乱,
灾难迭起,危机暗伏。

南无阿弥陀佛六字蕴含了究竟圆满的功德体性,直接传达阿弥陀佛摄受吾辈凡夫的大慈大悲,能满足众生多层面的需要,安顿现代人的心灵,最终引归西方极乐世界。

漂泊异乡的伶仃浪子啊!
只要一念回光,持佛名号,
便能仰仗阿弥陀佛的大悲愿力,截断轮回,归极乐故乡!

Sakyamuni Buddha’s coming to our world was to explain to us the truth of our life and the universe, and to help us understand the point of living. He then lectured the great Gate of Pure Land Buddhism. The aim of his teaching was to help those who believe in the vow power of Amitabha to transcend into the WPL (Western Pure Land) during this lifetime.

“Namo Amitabha” means the perfect merits and practice. It directly brings the message that the Buddha will bless all, and satisfy the different needs of sentient beings, and calm down modern people’s minds and finally brings them to the Western Pure Land.

The wondering sons and daughters in a strange land
By only chanting the name of the Buddha
Will return to the homeland of infinite happiness
